Opened on 13 November 2009 the Magnet has 13 handpumps selling real ales from microbreweries. A real cider is also available as well as bottled beers from Germany, Belgium and America.
The Magnet is a large multi-roomed pub, with ample seating space, a juke box and a games room with pool table and 2 dart boards. Upstairs there is a large function room with a bar that has 4 hand pumps.
There is a car park located at the rear of the pub.

This public house dates back to 1251, the date of the charter permitting a market, which was held in the area very close to this building. Only the vaulted cellar dates back as far, a datestone inside the building shows 1636 as a rebuilding date, and some of the internal beams and features are original from this time.
